NBC paid for flight from Brazil for David Goldman and son, Sean

NBC's news division ponied up the cash for a chartered flight from Brazil to the United States for David Goldman and his 9-year-old son, Sean.

Goldman has been embroiled in a 5 year custody dispute to regain his son.

Sean was taken to Brazil by his mother in 2004.

The aircraft also carried New Jersey congressman Chris Smith and NBC News correspondent Jeff Rossen.

The move gives exclusive footage and interviews that can be promoted over the Christmas holidays.

David Goldman first appeared on NBC's Dateline on Jan. 30.

Networks like to say that they do not pay for their stories, so this instance will raise questions about about the ethics of the expenditure.
