An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck Eastern Taiwan at 7:12 p.m. last night, according to the Central Weather Bureau.
The epicenter was 26 kilometers off the northeast of Hualien County and hit at a depth of 5.5 kilometers.
The earthquake was mainly felt in Eastern Taiwan with an intensity of 3 felt in the Taroko Gorge in Hualien and Nanao in Yilan.
Other parts of the countries felt a slight shake with an intensity of 1 in Nantou's Hehuanshan Mountains and Taoyuan County.
