| Bianchi, who had sent an open letter to Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva asking that Sean be heard by the courts so that he could tell the judge if he wished to stay in Brazil or live with his father in the US, once again criticized the decision of the Supreme Court that ordered the immediate handover of the boy to his American father. "It was one of the saddest things in my life, because to me Sean was a younger son," the grandmother stated. "I had already lost my daughter, I kept Sean, my son Luca and the little girl. But to give up a child is a very painful thing." She recalled how painful it was to have to say goodbye to the boy at Rio's US Consulate: "I gave Sean a kiss and said, 'Sean, my heart and yours are going to be together forever, nobody can separate us.' What's inside my heart and what's inside Sean's heart no one will separate, no one will censor, no one will pull out as they did. After that we parted and so far I haven't had news of him." She cried a lot and seemed outraged. "What they've done to my grandson is such a coward act, that sentence by Minister Gilmar Mendes is inhumane. He separated two siblings. I'm with a baby girl of 1 year and 5 months in my house who is asking me all the time where is her brother. To exchange my grandson for an economic agreement between two countries is an act with a child that has no adjective to describe it." Sean's uncle, Luca Bianchi, who also participated in the press conference, commented that David Goldman, Sean's father, showed no interest in seeing the child before the death of Bruna Bianchi, the boy's mother and his sister, who died while giving birth to daughter Chiara, a little over one year ago. "The first time he requested to visit Sean was a week after the death of my sister. Before that, I believe that for 4 years and 8 months, he never asked to visit the son," said Luca, who also told reporters how the boy acted upon learning he would have to go back to the US. "There are two things he said the day he got the news that stuck in my head. The first was when we said, 'Look, Sean, we lost, we did everything we could, but now there's nothing else we can do, you will have to go back to the United States'. He said: 'But how? But I don't want. I don't want.' We told him, 'But it's the law.' He then said: 'Damn, I lost my mother and now am I going to lose my whole The Bianchis say they want to go as soon as they can to the United "We will ask for visitation rights, through the Brazilian embassy in Washington and this visit will happen as soon as possible," said the grandmother. Sergio Tostes, the family's lawyer, showed the press the Christmas card made by Sean and sent to him and his wife. "I want to show the card he sent us: 'Sergio and Etilene, thanks for the help and three million things more. I write little because this can't be explained with words. Merry Christmas, a kiss, Sean. Don't throw this away. I made it myself,'" read Tostes. "This was a lovely boy, this boy who they said was not mature enough to express his opinion," the lawyer added. In the Attorney General's Office, no one was found to talk about the Bianchis interview. The Supreme Court and the Planalto Palace, Lula's office, declined to comment on their statements. It was not U.S. media fabrication. It was a Child Abduction. In fact, both the lower courts in Brasil and the Supreme Court of Brasil concurred that it was abduction and ordered the boy be returned to U.S. This is in compliance with Brasil's laws and Brasil as part of Hague Convention Countries. Worth noting, both FBI and Interpol had an outstanding warrant on the mother (the warrants became a moot point after her death). What the Brasilian woman did was in violation of Brasil's Law also. In Brasil, the laws requires minor travel outside of Brasil presenting government documentation showing BOTH parents' consent. In this woman's case, clearly, the father's consent was absent. Second. Brazil has outlawed racism century ago and its law reflect that. David Goldman's ethnicity is not a factor in the Court's decision. I am sorry you have such bigotry attitude which does not reflect Brasil's history against racism of any kind. Third. It is worth noting that overwhelming majority of Brazilians wanted the boy be returned to the father and U.S. According to many polling, one particular done by Globol News, over 80% of Brasilians felt the boy should be returned to U.S. long time ago and the Brasilian grandparents harmed Brasil's image aboard and does not reflect the sentiments of Brasil of fair play, equality and justice. Personally, I am glad the Brasilian justice system work. This is not about one boy. Brasil is ascending to global economic power and a lot of investors from all over the world are coming to invest in Brasil. People want to know if Brasil abides by its own laws and execute the laws. The father-in-law even admitted in court testimony that he hung up the phone whenever David called, using the excuse that his lawyer said he didn't have to talk to anybody suing him. According to the "open" letter she has written to the President of the Republic, her husband´s name is Mr.Raimundo Carneiro Ribeiro but she signed as Silvana "Bianchi" and her late daughter was known as Bruna Bianchi. I wonder if Mr.Ribeiro is her second (or Nth) husband and not the real father of Bruna. Even the child´s "uncle" signs as Luca "Bianchi" and doesn't use the last name of "Ribeiro" . Sean will grow to understand that his grandmother and stepfather used him in a very selfish way that was certainly not in his best interests. Not all situations like this end up the same so although you are probably closest to Sean's situation compared to many of us who have opinions, maybe your situation could have been better or different too. Even if David wasn't a good husband, (which is highly unprobable, but lets just say for the sake of argument he was a bad husband) they have not provided any evidence what so ever of him being a bad FATHER justifying denying him access to his son. They cleverly claim they didn't deny him actions through their words, yet their actions speak much louder than words. Thats the craziness about this case. They are saying one thing and doing another acting like they are law abiding decent people. The families actions depict those of someone who knows they were clearly doing something illegal and morally inconceivable so they played "DUMB" for their own selfish interests. No doubt they love that little boy, but they loved him selfishly and for their own immediate gratification. They should have been allowing Sean and David to speak and meet. They should have been singing the praises of their father. Instead they pretended like Sean didn't have a real father, probably out of fear that Sean himself would want to leave them and go with him. Could you imaging Sean as an adult having anxiety and guilt that he could potentially suffer that his REAL father never wanted him? Had he stayed in Brazil until adulthood he could have been just as traumatized as he might be now having been removed from Brazil so abrubptly as he was on Dec 24. I'm sorry but the interviews, the attitude, the selfishness, the corruptness, the immoralness, the blatant disregard and probably prejudice this family has publicly displayed so far, Lord only knows what happens behind their closed doors. For this reason alone, the vast majority of onlookers hearing about this case are siding with David Goldman raising his child. Even if Sean wasn't David's child, I would say he needed to be removed from that families home. On the day they gave Sean away, the caring parent would have been telling Sean, "dont worry baby, you are going with your father who loves you to death and who is going to take so much care of you, you will never have to worry. You are going to a great place to have an exciting life. We will see you soon. You are going to be so happy." Instead they gave the poor child anxiety by telling him there was nothing they could do, and Sean was being taken away because its the law. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about the emotional games they were probably playing with this childs mind. So disturbing. What the Bianchi's are going to have to do as this child matures and reads all the stories of how his life unfolded is profusely apologize for the agony that his mother put him through by taking him away from his father. What a nightmare this family created. They thought David would just disappear and they would get away with this atrocity. Shame shame shame on you Bianchi's. She first sets up her daughter with an old friend's son who recently divorced. They met a few times when Bruna was in Brazil for holidays. The mother continues to remind her daughter she's a slave in NJ, working as a teacher, that in Brazil she would have everything and this man was rich! She could have that design business she's always wanted. So they packed in June 2004, knowing fully well they would not return. This man and his father are lawyers who specializes in these types of cases, so they manipulated everything from the beginning. David vs. Goliath since day one. But justice prevails - only after David gained momentum from NBC that spread the story worldwide. The government got involved finally after all the pressure Americans put on their representatives to act. If Brazil would have done the right thing from the beginning, this would have been a settled case and the child could have split his time between US and Brazil and just maybe they would not have lost their daughter. It was said that Bruna did not want to get pregnant until she was married. If they had done everything by law, she would have gotten a divorce quicker in NJ and shared custody with her husband. She would have been able to have another child much earlier than last year and just maybe would not have suffered complications. It's too bad that in the end, everyone suffered but there is hope yet for David Goldman and Sean to live a normal life. I hope David uses this experience to be the spokesman - the Ambassador if the bill passes - for the cause to bring home more children. |

This woman has absolutely no right to voice her feelings when not once did they every acknowledge the feelings of the father who lost his son with no control or say in the matter. Seems her loved ones should be near to her, but others should be left to suffer?!? How does she have the audacity to speak as though she is God's gift to this planet. What she and her daughter did 5 years ago was heinous and inhuman and now so many people are suffering, including them! The courts did what was RIGHT. Reunite a parent and a child that were forced to be apart by no choice of their own.
This Brazilian family was blind and ignorant and just plain stupid for believing for a second that justice would not be served in this case. Power to David for doing the right thing all the way through this battle. Engaging US politicians was the only alternative because of the families complete disregard for his rights as the biological father. The Brazilian family forced this situation into a political battle but again, it just goes to show how there is a God and now hopefully other parents and families that are vicitms to child abduction will get the attention they need and deserve to bring them justice. And anyone who is thinking that they can commit such an awful act will now hopefully think twice before they undertake the illegal act of parting a parent and a child for no absolute good reason.
