The devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan last week has people all over the world wondering how they can help.
The Huffington Post has compiled a list of ways to help the victims of these tragedies here. And this week, a Chicago-based t-shirt company found a way to help Japan -- and look good doing it.
The popular online design community Threadless recently launched its "Causes" initiative, where the proceeds of their t-shirts benefit everything from Gulf Coast Relief to exploited children. Now, the company is looking to help the people of Japan.
"We're using the power of community-based design to call attention to the good guys: non-profits, world-changing organizations, and important social movements," Threadless says on its website. "We need you, the world's designers and thinkers, to submit tee designs and wear those designs proudly. Call us nutsos, but we believe the world can change one t-shirt at a time!"
Threadless has asked its 1.5 million members to take part in their "Japan and Pacific Relief T-Shirt Challenge" to help displaced Japanese citizens begin the recovery process.
Anyone can submit a t-shirt design under the theme "sunrise," and the winning shirt will be printed and sold online. Threadless says it will donate 100 percent of net proceeds from the sale of the winning tee to The American Red Cross's Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund.
Friday is the last day for people to vote on the winning design. Check out some of the submissions below, and see the rest here. The winning shirt will be available for purchase on March 21.
