Dateline bringing David Goldman, son to Orlando

After five years David Goldman was reunited with his son, Sean, today in Brazil.

What to do next?

Why, fly to Orlando.

They were aboard a private jet chartered by NBC’s “Dateline,” NBC News said on its Web site. That jet was supposed to land this afternoon at Galaxy Aviation at Orlando International Airport.

WESH-Channel 2 reporter Gail Paschall-Brown speculated that the Goldmans might take in Orlando’s sites. But she also noted, “We may not see anything, because I did speak with the general manager here at Galaxy Aviation, and he says he wants to honor his client’s wishes, and that is utmost privacy. And that is what he is going to do.”

Of course, “Dateline” would want to keep an exclusive to itself. Consider the costs for that jet.

Does it ever seem that journalism these days is more about who has the deepest pockets than who tells the best story?

No word on how or when a Goldman story would air. An NBC News spokeswoman said she had few details about the report.

David Goldman of New Jersey has been locked in a long battle to win back his son.

Goldman’s wife took the child to her native Brazil five years ago. She divorced her husband, remarried and died in childbirth last year. The woman’s Brazilian family kept the boy. Goldman finally won his case when a federal court in Brazil ordered that the child be returned to his only living parent.
