Legarda skips Corona trial to take care of sick nanny in US
In a letter to Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Legarda requested a leave of absence from Jan. 16 to 19 to take care of her “lifelong” nanny, Felicidad Bagayas, whom she said is currently recovering from a colorectal surgery in California.
“For over 60 years, she has devoted her life for my family and has become a second mother to me,” she said in her letter.
She also assured the Senate leadership that she will monitor the trial through live streaming and through reports from her staff.
Legarda also said that she will participate in the trial once she returns to the country next week.
The Senate currently sits as an impeachment court to try Corona, who is accused of betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the Constitution, and graft and corruption. — Andreo C. Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
