THREE DEAD IN RENO AIR SHOW CRASH MAY BE FROM WASHINGTON STATE


(SEATTLE, WA) -- A Washington State couple affiliated with the Cascade Warbirds - an Oak Harbor based group of vintage military aircraft owners and enthusiasts – are missing and feared dead from that Friday afternoon crash at a Reno, Nevada air race, according to a report Sunday in the Seattle Times.

The Cascade Warbirds website had posted a message from the head of the organization, Greg Anders, saying the "crash at Reno was very near the Cascade Warbird box" and the two members of he group in question could not be located.

An antique plane from the 1940’s, a P-51D Mustang, ran into trouble during the air show and crashed into the crowd.

It killed the pilot and at least eight people on the ground. Dozens more were injured. Below is raw video footage of the incident.



Earlier reports identified a third person from Washington State, Greg Morcom, 47, as being among those killed in the accident.

Dave Desmon, a Cascade Warbirds executive officer that was standing close to the impact area of the plane sustained minor injuries. He was leading the group’s effort in Reno to account for all members who were there.

In addition to the nine people known dead at least 17 others were being treated at area hospitals and around 24 people had already been treated and released according to Reno fire and police officials.

The cause of the accident is not yet known.
