Charlie Sheen has checked into rehab.
The Two and a Half Men actor has entered an unnamed facility in a bid to get treatment for his problems.
He was rushed to hospital yesterday with abdominal pains after a reported 36-hour drinking and drug session at his Los Angeles home.
"Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation centre today," his representative said.
"He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern."
Work on his TV show Two and a Half Men has now been suspended indefinitely.
In a statement the producers said: "Due to Charlie Sheen's decision to enter a rehabilitation centre, CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre are placing Two and a Half Men on production hiatus.
"We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision."
Sheen has two daughters, Lola, six, and five-year-old Sam, with ex-wife Denise Richards and 22-month-old twins Bob and Max with estranged spouse Brooke Mueller.
He was released earlier today from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai hospital and even though he was being treated for a hernia, friends had urged him to seek help.
One said: "He's got so many people saying they're concerned and they have the power to help him but you can't force things on someone, you can't make him get help."
Sheen's actor father Martin Sheen was said to be hugely concerned about his 45-year-old son's well-being and urged him to check into rehab.
Charlie Sheen enters rehab, 'Two and a Half Men' goes on hiatus
Charlie Sheen has entered rehab, his rep tells EW. “Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center today. He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern. Mr. Sheen asks that his privacy be respected at this time and that no additional information will be provided,” the rep says in a statement.
CBS also released a statement saying Two and a Half Men will go on production hiatus, following the news. “We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision,” the network says in a statement.
The actor was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Thursday with “severe abdominal pains.” His rep blamed “a hernia condition.” He was released later that evening. Earlier this month, Sheen reportedly went on a bender with porn stars in Las Vegas, leading CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler to address Sheen’s health at a press conference: “We have a high level of concern. How can we not?” she said. EW previously reported that reps from CBS and Warner Bros. Television approached the star with a plan to temporarily halt production so he could seek professional help; Sheen initially had turned down the offer.
