5.9-magnitude quake hits northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge -- USGS

NEW YORK, July 27 (Xinhua) -- A 5.9 magnitude earthquake jolted northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake hit at 23:00:29 GMT on Wednesday, the USGS said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 6.30 km, was located 1,171 km northeast of Cayenne, French Guiana, it said.
