These are the scenes showing an intoxicated Nicolas Cage demanding to be given a tattoo just hours before he was arrested for ‘assaulting his wife’.

The 47-year-old actor can be seen in the black shirt on the left arguing with staff and after demanding a tattoo late on Friday night.

The pictures show Cage speaking with staff who have crowded around him and he is clearly seen point his finger in an aggressive manner.

Cage stumbled into the New Orleans parlour and sources have told TMZ.com that as well as demanding a piece of body art he was also throwing his clothes around.

The Oscar-winning Hollywood star was so drunk that he didn’t know where he lived and according to the U.S. gossip site Nicolas reportedly asked staff to call police to help

Shortly after his visit to the tattoo parlour Cage was involved in what police called a ‘public fight’ with his wife which came about because he was trying to drag Alice Kim to where he thought they were staying.

He then apparently began punching stationary cars in frustration before he was put behind bars.

New Orleans Police Officer Garry Flot told Mail Online the incident happened late on Friday, just before midnight.

'Cage and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting,' police said in a statement.

'She disagreed, and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address.

'The actor then began striking vehicles and later attempted to get into a taxi. At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by onlookers drove up on the couple and ordered him out of the cab, which prompted Cage to start yelling. The officers subsequently took Cage to Central Lock-up.'

The police report also reveals the officer 'immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated' and his wife showed 'no visible signs of injury.'

Cage was charged with one count of domestic violence and one count of public drunkenness.

Earlier today Cage was back at work and appeared to have put the drama of a few days ago behind him and was looking remarkably relaxed on set.

He was even seen smoked a cigar as he sat on a deckchair reading a script during a break in filming.

'He is always extremely professional,' a source from the set told People about the actor.

'He is a dedicated actor when he is at work, and I don't think people would hire him so much if he wasn't.'

The source added that Cage was currently in fine shape and ready to work,' and is 'very excited' about doing some action sequences later this week.

And according to the unit publicist, 'Shooting is going on as normal.'
