RIO : The Foreign Ministry gave the two days of the end of Lula's mandate, the two sons diplomatic passport of ex-president. According to a report published by the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, the document that has benefited the children of Lula said that the measure was taken "in exceptional cases"and "function of interest in the country, " but does not provide justification for the award.

The diplomatic passport is granted to presidents, vice presidents, cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, heads of diplomatic missions, ministers of higher courts and ex-presidents. Dependent authorities may receive the document until 21 years (24 in the case of students, or at any age if disabled), the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Claudio Luis Lula da Silva, 25, and Marcos Claudio da Silva, 39, does not suffer from disabilities and received the benefit on December 29, 2010. The document allows access to the queue with separate entrance and more lenient treatment at the airports of the countries with which Brazil has diplomatic ties.
Also according to the report, the decision provoked unease within the Foreign Ministry, as the then foreign minister, Celso Amorim, appealed to the regulation that gives the minister the power to authorize the granting of the document in respect of interest of the country.
Through the advice, the Foreign Ministry said the law allows the chancellor to grant a diplomatic passport and that the children of Lula had the benefit, which needed to be renewed.
