October Snow Hits the Northeast

Northeast Snow Breaks Records

Is this going to be the sign of the winter ahead? The Northeast from Virginia to Vermont was plummeted by a record-breaking October snowfall Saturday, with three people reportedly dead as a result of the storm and some 2.3 million without power by nightfall. The nor’easter saved the biggest punch for the end, as New England was expected to get hit the hardest. Parts of Vermont were expected to be hit with up to 15 inches of snow while parts of central Massachusetts were expected to have up to 14 inches. Coastal areas such as New York and Boston had less snowfall and more wet, sticky slush overnight—but no less wind and rain from the nor’easter. New York City was slammed with up to 2 inches per hour in the record-breaking storm, while New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency after 500,000 people were left without power.
