RIP BET '106 & Park' host DJ Megatron shot & killed in New York

There is news out of New York City this Sunday evening. DJ Megatron, otherwise known as Corey McGriff, has been shot and killed. The man is a well-known host of the BET countdown series, 106 & Park, which airs on Channel 59 in Tempe.

According to a report from New York Daily News, the man was shot dead near his home in Staten Island, New York around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. He was shot in the chest, and he was pronounced dead once paramedics arrived on scene. He had worked with BET and 106 & Park since 2006.

BET released the following statement: "The BET Networks Family is saddened by the news of the untimely loss of our friend and colleague, Corey 'Megatron' McGriff. We extend our deepest condolence to his family. He will truly be missed."

His death is still being investigated at this time. No one has been arrested for the shooting yet. Watch 106 & Park weeknights on Channel 59 at 6 p.m. in Tempe.
