#news : 7.3-magnitude quake hits Loyalty Islands in South Pacific -- USGS

NEW YORK, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale jolted Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia, in South Pacific at 16:16:14 GMT Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 7.20 km, was initially determined to be at 20.5886 degrees south latitude and 168.5475 degrees east longitude.
