Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, is calling for calm after long-awaited election results were finally released on Wednesday.
Almost a quarter of all votes have been cancelled and 24 candidates disqualified because of widespread fraud allegations since the elections have been held in September.
Critics say the results show the system is fundamentally flawed.
