Elvis Fans Mark Anniversary Of The King's Death

Fans of late music legend ELVIS PRESLEY descended on Memphis, Tennessee on Sunday (15Aug10) to mark the 33rd anniversary of The King's death.

The rock 'n roll icon passed away at the age of 42 on 16 August, 1977 at his Graceland mansion and he was interred in the estate's grounds.

Fans from all over the world flocked to the site on Sunday to pay their respects and to mark the poignant anniversary, with floral tributes flooding the grave site and hundreds of visitors holding candlelit vigils late into the night.

Police closed the streets to traffic around Graceland and water stations were set up to help the procession of fans cope in the soaring summer temperatures, according to Fox News.
