Brazilian midfielder Santana joins Iranian soccer club

TEHRAN, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian midfielder Robson Chavez Santana joined Iranian Traktorsazi club in northwestern city of Tabriz on a two-year contract,the English language Tehran Times daily reported on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Santana who has played for Brazilian clubs Juventude and Figueirense, signed his contract on Tuesday and is the Tabriz-based club's third foreign player, said the daily.

Earlier this month, the striker of Tehran-based Piroozi Athletic soccer club, Shpejtim Arifi, and Brazilian midfielder, Rodrigo Antonio Lombardo Tosi, have joined Traktorsazi on a one-year contract.

Traktorsazi has appointed ex-Sepahan coach Amir Qalenoei as their new coach for the new season. Qalenoei inspired Sepahan from Isfahan to win two Professional League title of Iran in a row.
