6.1-magnitude quake hits near east coast of Honshu, Japan




BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted near the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 13:37:03 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey, monitored here, said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 42.90 km, was initially determined to be at 35.6168 degrees north latitude and 140.4524 degrees east longitude.
