Colombia's oil giant reaches record-high exports in April

BOGOTA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Colombia's state-run oil company Ecopetrol announced Monday that its exports rose to a record-high level in April.

The company said that the past month saw Ecopetrol's exports average 403,510 barrels of crude and refined products per day, marking the highest level since 11 years ago, when its exports averaged 398,275 barrels per day.

The main destination for Ecopetrol's exports was the U.S. Gulf coast, which absorbed 58 percent of the total volumes. Following behind was the Far East, with 24 percent.

Ecopetrol is the biggest oil company in Colombia, and is also among the largest four in Latin America and among the top 40 in the world.

In Colombia, Ecopetrol produces more than 60 percent of the national consumption and has exploration projects in Brazil, Peru and the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
