ISLAMABAD, May 16 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were injured Sunday morning in a hand grenade explosion in Quetta, the provincial capital of southwest Pakistan's Balochistan, local sources said.
According to the sources, the blast occurred as an unidentified person threw a hand grenade into a house. The injured have been taken to hospital for treatment.
A local journalist told Xinhua that the explosion could be related to Taliban as they are against the shaving of beards of Muslims.
Balochistan province is currently experiencing a wave of ethnic and sectarian strife while a separatist movement is also active mainly under the flag of radical organization, the Balochistan Liberation Army, demanding separation from the Pakistani federation and independence of Balochistan.
