NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted Rat Islands, Aleutian Islands in the U.S. state of Alaska on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The tremor occurred about 9:27 a.m. local time (1827 GMT) at a depth of 226 km, with its epicenter some 2,070 km west-southwest of Anchorage, said the USGS on its official website.
No tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake, whose magnitude was preliminarily measured at 6.2 by the USGS.
