CAIRO, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian authorities confirmed on Saturday new H5N1 case bringing to 110 the total number of infections by the avian flu among humans in the most-populated Arab nation. Abdel Rahman Shaheen, spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, said in a press statement released by state-run MENA news agency that the new case is for a 20-year-old woman. The young woman was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. Her health condition is critical, the spokesman said without elaboration. Egypt is the most affected country by the virus outside Asia. It reported its first H5N1 virus in dead poultry in February 2006 and the first human case in March of the same year.
