Tremors felt in southwest Pakistan

QUETTA, Pakistan, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Strong tremors were felt Wednesday in Quetta and adjoining areas in the southwest Pakistani province of Balochistan, local meteorological office said.

The jolts were felt for 15 seconds at around 11:00 a.m. local time (0600 GMT) and were over 5 degree on the Richter Scale.

The tremors were felt in Quetta city and nearby areas of Kuchlak,Ziarat and Pishin, and people rushed in panic out from residences to open places, local sources said.

"People are still standing out of their apartments and home out of fear," a local resident said.

Some people said that mud houses and apartments in the local villages are most vulnerable against strong tremors
