It has been three weeks since two female suicide bombers had reportedly attacked Moscow's metro station, killing 40 people.
Russian investigators have linked the women, both from Dagestan, to separatist fighters operating out of Russia's North Caucasus region.
Al Jazeera's Neave Barker visited the parents of Maryam Sharipova, one of the alleged bombers, in the city of Balakhani in Dagestan, to report on her family's reaction.
They showed nothing but shock and confusion for why or how their daughter was involved in the attack.
