Brad Pitt has joined the USA Bid Committee to help the United States land the 2018 or 2022 World Cup.
"Soccer is a truly global sport and the opportunity to join the effort to have the U.S. host the world's greatest sporting event again is a great honor," Pitt said in a statement as he accepted the invitation today, reports AP.
Former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and comedian Drew Carey also are on the committee. FIFA's executive committee will select the 2018 and 2022 hosts in a vote on Dec. 2.

BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Reports are rife that Brad Pitt is pondering a career in politics and to make a bid for the White House with Angelina Jolile by his side.
The Hollywood star will be turning his back to the dull acting and trying his hand at politics, but he will start with running for the Senate first, media reports said Thursday.
"There's not much left for him to do in Hollywood," a source close to Pitt says. “Brad will run for Senate and if all goes well will mount a bid to become President in 2016.”
So what's on the top of Pitt's agenda? Legalizing marijuana. "He believes it would be the biggest moneymaker since the Internet,” the source said.
And how does Angie feel about her partner's "political passion"? She is looking forward to the day she may be the first lady of this country, according to source close to the couple.

"Angelina Jolie e Brad Pitt chegaram pouco antes das 18h (locais, 13h de Brasília) ao aeroporto de Sarajevo, a bordo de um avião privado, procedentes de Veneza", disse um oficial da polícia de fronteiras, sem dar maiores detalhes.
Os atores foram recebidos no aeroporto por representantes da Organização das Nações Unidas para a Infância (Unicef), noticiou o jornal bósnio Dnevni Avaz em sua edição eletrônica.
Uma porta-voz do escritório do Unicef em Sarajevo, Aida Prljaca, disse que Jolie e Pitt, que não apareceram em público, estão em visita "privada".
"Não podemos revelar detalhes sobre sua visita, nem sobre onde se encontram", disse Prljaca ao portal de notícias local Sarajevo-X.
A informação sobre a visita surpresa do casal despertou grande interesse na imprensa de Sarajevo.
Dezenas de fotógrafos e jornalistas estavam concentrados na noite deste domingo em frente ao luxuoso hotel Europa, localizado na parte antiga da cidade, aonde Jolie e Pitt foram depois de deixar o aeroporto.

Angelina Jolie can count another Hollywood heart-throb among her biggest fans.
Besides partner Brad Pitt, co-star Johnny Depp is crowing about his work partner on The Tourist. Shooting on the new flick in Venice and Paris has been avidly watched.
Depp, who plays an Interpol agent to Jolie's American tourist, says he is impressed by her talents, Bang Showbiz reports.
'She’s a nice woman. What she does she takes very seriously. I was really impressed by her and I’m thrilled to be working with her,' said Depp.
He also spoke of his upcoming appearance with real-life belle Vanessa Paradis in My American Lover. 'It’s in preparation,' he said of the flick.
'It's called My American Lover. Vanessa plays the French feminist Simone de Beauvoir and I play her lover Nelson Algren, who is real macho,' he said.
Depp and the French Paradis have been together for about 12 years. They have two children, Lily Rose, 10, and Jack, seven.
