(April 19) -- The sister of the reality television producer's wife found dead in Cancun, Mexico, earlier this month said today that she warned her against taking the trip that she hoped would repair her struggling marriage.

On April 8, Monica Beresford-Redman, 42, was found dead in a sewer on the Moon Palace Resort, where she and her husband, Bruce Beresford-Redman, a former producer for CBS' "Survivor" and MTV's "Pimp My Ride" were vacationing. He remains the lone suspect in the case, but he has not been arrested. He is unable to leave Mexico, where he is free pending the results of forensic testing.

In an appearance on the "Today" show this morning, Jeane Brugos said her sister, Monica, a mother of two, went on the trip against the advice of her family.

"I told her it wasn't the right time," Brugos told NBC's Ann Curry of her sister's trip. "He wasn't ready for that, he wasn't ready to give to my sister what she needed. They were having serious problems, and she was trying to save her marriage because her family was the most important thing for her. I told her he wasn't committed ... he needed help."

Brugos' mother, Ely, who accompanied daughters Jeane and Carla, told the New York Daily News she believes Bruce was having an affair. On the "Today" show, she pressed for his arrest in Monica's murder.

"I think there should be justice; everything indicates that it should be so," she said through an interpreter. "The form with which the crime was committed was terrible. It was horrible, horrific. Nobody has a right to destroy a family the way that they did it, no one has that right."

A hotel security guard reported hearing Bruce and Monica argue on the evening of April 5, hours after Bruce said he last saw her. According to hotel records, the Beresford-Redmans' room swipe key was used more than a dozen times between midnight and 6 a.m. on April 6, the day Bruce reported his wife missing.

Police in Cancun continue to investigate the timeline of Monica's disappearance and eventual murder, but officials told "Today" that they have not spoken to the husband in a week.

Bruce's family and friends are outspoken in their support of him, with his family saying in a statement that he "loved Monica, and would never have harmed her."

Former "Survivor" contestant Daniel Lue told NBC of his former reality television producer: "The fact that ... they still haven't arrested him or charged him with a crime, I think it really tells you something."

Monica's family said they are looking to Mexico to bring justice to their loved one's death. They also are focusing on fundraising efforts to bring Monica's body back to the U.S. for burial.

"She was a wonderful mother, a fighter and a woman full of life," Ely Brugos told "Today."
