Officials say two 15-year-old girls held hostage for four days were shot and seriously wounded when police raided the apartment where they were being held at gunpoint by a disgruntled boyfriend, the associated press reported. Police Col. Eduardo Felix Oliveira says that during the rescue attempt Eloa Pimentel and her friend Nayara Rodrigues were shot in their heads. He said Friday he did not know if the shots were made by police or by Pimentel's boyfriend and captor Lindemberg Alves who was armed with two guns and was not hurt in the operation. Rosa Maria Pinto director of the Santo Andre Medical Center in Sao Paulo says Pimentel's wounds are life threatening but that Rodrigues was in stable condition and expected to recover.
