A 15-year-old Brazilian teen is in an irreversible coma a day after being shot in the head — allegedly by a disgruntled ex-boyfriend who police say held her and a friend captive for four days.
Grace Mary Lidia is a neurosurgeon at Santo Andre Medical Center in Sao Paulo. She says Eloa Pimentel is close to being declared brain-dead.
Eloa's 15-year-old friend Nayara Rodrigues was shot in the face. Lidia says she is in stable condition.
Both were shot during a police raid Friday on the Sao Paulo apartment where 22-year-old Lindemberg Alves allegedly held them captive.
Police Col. Eduardo Felix Oliveira said Saturday the bullets that hit the girls came from a gun Alves fired.
