After deadly suicide bomb blasts late on Thursday killed 42 people and injured over 180 others in Lahore in eastern Pakistan, security around the city was strengthened on Friday.
All the entrance and exit points in Lahore city are being carefully monitored under strict security measure.
Heavy police contingents have been deployed in and around Lahore, while Darbar Bibi Pakdaman, a compound within the limits of Data Darbar (shrine) which was attacked Thursday night, has also been closed down for visitors, a local TV reported.
Extraordinary security steps have been adopted at all big and small shrines throughout Punjab and Lahore.
Hours after the deadly terror attack, a large number of worshipers Friday offered Morning Prayers at the shrine of Hazrat Data Gunj Buksh.
A report, warning a likely suicide attack at Data Darbar, had been sent to the provincial government and Darbar administration on June 24, but was ignored, local TV Geo news reported.
This was not the first time that a religious place was targeted in the city, two suicide attacks on two separate worship places of a minority group in Lahore killed 90 people and injured over 100 in late May.
