TEHRAN, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Iran's deputy police chief Ahmad Reza Radan said Saturday that his troops have arrested 40 suspects who aimed to create insecurity in the southeastern city of Zahedan in Sistan-Baluchistan province, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported.

"After the bomb blasts in Zahedan city a number of (individuals) wanted to create insecurity but the police arrested them," Radan was quoted as saying by Fars.

Radan further added that two policemen were killed during the bombing attack and 10 others injured, some of them in critical conditions.

Meanwhile, Radan reiterated that the security condition in the city is now normal.

He also blamed foreign hands for the recent insecurities in Sistan-Baluchistan province, and warned enemies against the consequences of such terrorist acts, according to Fars.

The riots happened after two successive explosions in front of the Zahedan Grand Mosque on Thursday night, killing at least 27 people and injuring more than 270 others.
