PARIS, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The sanctions draft presented to the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday was a signal of continuous pressure to stem Iran from its nuclear program, the French foreign ministry said on Wednesday. The draft resolution was addressing "the attitude of Iran, which refused to engage in any discussion since last October about its nuclear program," ministry spokesman Bernard Valero said. "This is a continuation of the measures based on dual approaches to put pressure on Iran to make it respect the international obligations ... and to establish transparency and confidence with regard to its nuclear program," Valero said at a regular press briefing. He called the draft a "consensus within the group of E3+3 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) after discussions that took place since January."
