After a whirlwind three-day Southern California tour that took them from the manicured polo grounds of Santa Barbara to the streets of L.A.'s Skid Row, Prince William and Catherine ended their North American trip.
Shaking hands and saying goodbye to officials on the tarmac, the royal newlyweds, both 29, who also traveled to Canada, boarded a British Airways flight at Los Angeles International Airport and flew away Sunday afternoon.
The United States leg of their tour, highlighted by a glamorous Hollywood gala, ended with them appearing at the Sony Studios lot in Culver City for an event for Service Nation: Mission Serve, which helps veterans get jobs.
"As this is my last opportunity before we leave this afternoon," William told the crowd, "I would just say, on behalf of us both, how grateful we are to have been welcomed so warmly in the Golden State and the City of Angels."
