Roly Poly Iron Designed by Sanyong Park, Jungmin Park & Sunwoo Hwang

Good Designs are always involved in good research and most of the time, this research are based on the simplest form of Human Behaviors.

Observation were made that even with most iron out there, cordless with a base or corded, there will always be a time when we are distracted by something else and forgot to put up the iron.

The results, either a brown or burnt patch on your clothes and I had seen it on mine before.

And sometime a brown or burnt patch is the best case scenario when compared to the worst thing which could happen.

The “Roly Poly Iron” was designed just to counter those careless human behaviors of ours.

Based on the principles of a tumbling doll, the centre of gravity is located at the rear ends of the iron and with a little tweak to its form, when the iron is not been held, it will automatically rock back into it’s standby incline position.

This way, it acts as a good preventive measure to unwanted burns or fire.

And this good innovative concept had got them a IDEA 2010 Bronze Student award.
