THE HAGUE, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- A 10-year-old cow in the Netherlands was found carrying BSE, commonly known as the "mad cow disease", and it is the country's first reported BSE case in two years, the government said Friday. The Agriculture Ministry said the cow belongs to a farm in Tilburg, but wouldn't reveal the name of the farm. "This fits the estimate of the Central Veterinary Institute in Lelystad, that the Netherlands will encounter few infected cow in the coming year," the ministry said in a short statement. However, it hasn't developed into an epidemic situation, local press said. The country's last BSE case was reported in May 2008.
