JAKARTA, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Eleven people were killed, including one Japanese and one Australian, and scores of others were injured after fire engulfed a night club in Surabaya, the capital of East Java province of Indonesia earlier Friday, officials said. Police officer at the scene named only Ngadiran told Xinhua over the phone that one of the killed was a pregnant woman. The Redboxx nightclub and caf located at the first and the second floors of the Pakuwon Trade Center building was on fire at 3:20 a.m. local time, local police chief at Biyung district (where the club is located) Bambang Tripurwanto told Xinhua over phone from the district. So far the seven bodies have been evacuated and four others were still under the debris, spokesman of the National Disaster Management Agency Priyadi Kardono said. The police chief Tripurwanto said that several people have suffered from injury and were rushed to nearby hospitals. "There must be a lot of people hurt, as the cafe is located at the second floor of the building, making it difficult for them to escape fast," he said. The provincial police was investigating the accident, said Tripurwanto. It was not clear yet what has caused the accident, he said.
