BEIRUT, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon on Tuesday expressed support for a newly-reached Iran nuclear fuel swap deal, describing it as a first step toward resolving the issue diplomatically. Lebanese President Michel Suleiman said in a statement that Lebanon was one of the first countries to call for a non- confrontational solution that would reduce tensions in the Middle East and the world overall. "Calm and rational rhetoric is the best way to settle all pending and thorny files," he said. Iran, Brazil and Turkey signed on Monday a nuclear fuel swap agreement, under which Iran will ship 1,200 kg of low-enriched uranium to Turkey. In exchange, Turkey will hand over higher-grade 20-percent uranium. The exchange will take place on the Turkish soil.
