A GAY man who knifed his husband yesterday admitted Britain's first murder in a same-sex marriage.
Michael Edwards, 32, fatally stabbed hubby John, 35, in the heart days after their second anniversary following a row about a heating bill.
He initially tried to claim his husband stabbed himself.
Yesterday, he stood crying and shaking in the dock as he was caged for life.
Manchester Crown Court heard the men, both barmen, met in 2000 and married in November 2007 - two years after civil partnerships were allowed in the UK.
Their marriage was violent, with Edwards often beating "doting" John "as a means of relieving stress".
Last November, after a night out, John shut a door on Edwards as they rowed.
Edwards, who admitted stabbing an ex in the back in 2007, plunged the knife through the door and then "delivered a fatal blow".
Edwards, of Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester, must serve at least 13 years, four months before he can be considered for parole.
