KABUL, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police killed one insurgent and injured two others in Afghanistan's eastern Paktia province Saturday, a statement of Interior Ministry released here Sunday said. "Personnel of police were busy in defusing a mine in Darsak village of Chamkani district on Saturday when militants attacked them and they returned fire killing one on the spot," the statement asserted. Two more militants along with their assault rifles were detained, it further said. Militancy and conflicts have been on constant increase since beginning spring in Afghanistan. Spring and summer are traditionally known as fighting season in the war-torn country.
