A HUGE bomb has ripped through the Norwegian capital injuring several and leaving at least two dead.
Local media reported Oslo had been left looking like a "warzone" after the giant blast in the city centre.
The explosion in Young's Square — where the head offices of the Norwegian Labour Party, the Liberal Party and the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions are based — was so powerful shop windows were shattered a MILE away.
A tangled wreckage of a car was seen outside one building. The damage appeared consistent with that from a car bomb.
The office of Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg was among buildings damaged. But the PM was said to be safe.
A Norwegian government official said there were still people trapped in the buildings.
But State Secretary Kristian Amundsen added: "I can't go into details."
He said the situation is the worst his country has ever seen.
At a press conference, a police spokesman said: "Bomb disposal teams are working their way through the buildings affected and the fire department is extinguishing flames.
"We have received reports that a car pulled up in Grubbegaten just before the explosion. That car is not there now.
"There remains a lot of investigation to be done."
Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reported police at the scene had told them there may be more bombs. A large exclusion zone has been set up.
They claimed a cop told a reporter: "You can't go through here. There are still two more bombs, but we don't know where they are."
Police said there were "one or several powerful explosions in the government building in Oslo".
Most of the windows were blown out of the 17-storey block housing Mr Stoltenberg's office, as well as in nearby ministries. The oil ministry was on fire.
Witnesses saw at least eight people walking away from the scene with their faces covered in blood.
Hoshang Afshar was called by his 16-year-old daughter Amosha who was caught in the explosion outside the Labour Party office.
He said: "My daughter called me up and said she could not breathe. There was blood all around her, and a piece of glass was stuck in her throat." Amosha was rushed to hospital and treated for her injuries.
Witness Jan Larsen told Dagbladet: "There are a lot of injured people in the area, many seriously injured. Some were lying in the streets bleeding heavily. All the buildings are destroyed, it is absolutely awful."
Police have mobilised all personnel and Oslo University Hospital has implemented a state of emergency.

SERIES of huge explosions have ripped through the Norwegian capital
A spokesman for the hospital said seven patients have been admitted so far with serious injuries.
NATO member Norway has in the past been threatened by leaders of al-Qaeda for its involvement in Afghanistan.
It has also taken part in the NATO bombing of Libya, where Colonel Gaddafi has threatened to strike back in Europe.
David Lea, Western Europe analyst at risk consultants Control Risks, said: "There certainly aren't any domestic Norwegian terrorist groups although there have been some al-Qaeda-linked arrests from time to time.
"They are in Afghanistan and were involved in Libya, but it's far too soon to draw any conclusions."
