The U.S. embassy in Brasilia is offering Super Saturday visa program to accommodate Brazilian travelers who are seeking visas on Saturday, June 18, along with the U.S. consulates in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Recife.
U.S. consulates will also open on July 23 in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Appointment openings for visa interviews in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo were rapidly filled in advance.
Trade, education, and tourism sector have grown drastically over the past two years between Brazil and the United States. The Non-Immigrant visa demand in Brazil has increased by 230 percent since 2006 due to rapid growth in these sectors.
More than 319,000 NIV's were issued by the U.S. consulate general in Sao Paulo in 2010; this demand is expected to increase by up to 30 percent over last year, a press release said.
About 95 percent of all Brazilian visa applicants receive visas, and most visas issued are the new combined B1/B2 for business and tourist travel with ten-year validity.
