President Hugo Chávez insisted that socialism must be built in the state-run oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa), during the signing ceremony of the collective bargaining agreement with oil workers. The labor deal will be in force until 2011.
"This is not a provisional measure, and it will not be easy to establish. You can not establish socialism by decree, you have to father and give birth to socialism," Chávez said.
Earlier, the minister of Energy and Petroleum and Pdvsa President, Rafael Ramírez, praised the signing of the collective bargaining agreement "among revolutionaries," referring to most of the leaders of the United Federation of Venezuelan Oil Workers (Futpv).
