Irônico, ele também provoca as duas peruas: “Tá aí, Sofia! Uma boa ocupação para você e a Beatriz... Dar umas aulas de etiqueta para a Vitória. Se ela quiser, claro. Você não está forçada a nada nesta casa, Vitória”, diz o médico.

• Chile meanwhile, have lost all three of their meetings against South American sides at the World Cup, and two of those came against Brazil.

• It has been a superb tournament for South American sides but one will be going home tonight, and with Brazil winning four second-round games in a row (since defeat to Argentina in 1990), it looks as though Dunga's men will progress.

Contreras and Fuentes come into defence, with Carlos Carmona bolstering a three-man midfield. Mati Fernandez is surprisingly excluded despite returning from suspension.

• As for the team news, Brazil welcome back Robinho and Kaka following a 0-0 draw against Portugal although Felipe Melo and Elano miss out due to injury, so Dani Alves plays in an advanced role and Ramires comes in to sit alongside Gilberto Silva.

• Chile could play into their hands if they attack from the off, but their enterprising approach has won a legion of fans and in particlar one Johan Cruyff, who claimed today that Chile are the closest embodiment to Total Football he has seen at the finals.

• Meanwhile Brazil, who have won their past seven games against Chile, scoring 26 goals in the process, only really impressed when beating Ivory Coast in the group stage and are more of a counter-attacking side than the gung-ho Brazilian teams of old.

• Chile have not reached the quarter finals of a World Cup since 1962 and would require a sizeable shock to match that tonight. However, under Marco Bielsa they are one of the most interesting sides at the competition with their tactical fluidity and attacking impetus.

Blogger allegedly killed by police is drug addict: Egyptian prosecutors

CAIRO, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian prosecutors said on Monday that investigations into the death of a young blogger allegedly killed by two police agents showed he was a drug addict.

Khaled Mohamed Said, 28, who died of asphyxia after swallowing a packet containing bhang narcotic was a drug addict, the report published by state-run MENA news agency said.

Investigations showed the young man has been sentenced to three- month imprisonment and dismissed from military service in 2004 over disciplinary violations that included possession and addiction of narcotics.

The Egyptian blogger was also sentenced to three-year- imprisonment in 2002 over drug-possession charges, but was acquitted after a retrial, the report added.

The preliminary results of a second autopsy on the blogger said the man died of asphyxia confirming the results of the first autopsy report and the police account.

However, human rights groups said the young man was beaten to death by two plainclothes police agents in retaliation for spreading a video showing policemen distributing the seized drugs among themselves, which was denied by the police.

U.S. to have loss by sanctioning Iran: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Monday that the United States will have loss by adopting sanctions against Iran.

Referring to the recent U.S. Congress sanctions bill against Iran, Ahmadinejad said that "By these sanction, they (the Americans) in fact sanction themselves."

"The United States has no economic relations with Iran for 30 years," he said, adding that "So, who they want to sanction."

"They are unhappy with Iran's boosting economic relations with others. (Therefore) by these (sanctions) they in fact sanction themselves," said Ahmadinejad in a press conference here on Monday.

U.S. Congress on Thursday overwhelmingly passed the Iran sanctions bill, paving way for the Obama administration to take unilateral sanctions on Tehran over its controversial nuclear program.

The United States, Israel and other Western countries worry that Tehran may obtain the uranium fuel needed for nuclear weapons by the same process to purify uranium. The Iranian government insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purpose.

Multitude of global crises set back efforts for MDGs, threaten future progress: UN chief

UNITED NATIONS, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Aftershocks of the global financial, food and climate crises have set back efforts towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and threaten future progress, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said here Monday.

"The recovery from the most severe recession in recent history has been tentative and uneven," Ban said in remarks to the week- long high-level segment of the UN Economic and Social Council. "It cannot compensate for the losses suffered."

Officials from various sectors of finance to government meet this week at the UN Headquarters in New York to discuss progress in reaching the MDGs by 2015 and implications of the current financial climate towards the internationally established targets.

"We are likely to miss several goals, especially in the least developed countries, land-locked developing countries, small island developing states and countries in or emerging from conflict," Ban warned.

Highlighting global crises and the disparities that exist, particularly, for the world's most vulnerable, the major economies need to be held accountable to their commitments.

The 2010 MDG Report has showed that some countries have made " significant progress" on reducing extreme poverty over the last decade, Ban noted.

With the overall poverty rate expected to fall to 15 percent by 2015, it will be half of 1990 levels, Ban said.

Citing progress in the access to education for children, declines in child mortality, increases in access to antiretroviral treatment for HIV/AIDS, Ban said such progresses show that the MDGs is achievable.

"The recipe is clear: the right polices, adequate investment and reliable international support," he said.

The Economic and Social Council has an important role to play, Ban said, outlining that jobs, food security and the investment into women need to be stepped up.

"Of all the MDGs, the one where we have achieved least success is on maternal health," Ban said.

Each year between 10 and 15 million women suffer long-term disability due to complications during pregnancy or childbirth.

In the 21st century, it is unacceptable that mothers should still be dying as they deliver new life," Ban said, urging officials to build momentum for the UN Joint Action Plan on the health of women and children.

"Together, we must urge governments to change attitudes and policies towards women and girls," he said.

Ban urged officials to match political will and cooperation to achieve the MDGs, as they consider how to expand national efforts towards the targets.

"We must deliver results for the world's most vulnerable," Ban said, noting that the international community has the "tools" to do so.

World community must commit to the MDGs with special attention to women: UK minister

UNITED NATIONS, June 28 (Xinhua) -- A focus on women and a strong, accountable commitment from nations are integral to progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Andrew Mitchell, the development minister of the United Kingdom, said here Monday.

Speaking to the press here following his remarks to the High- Level Segment of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), an important annual meeting for the UN organ that tackles economic and social issues with the input of UN agencies and civil society, Mitchell expressed the UK's support for the MDGs.

The UK would like to see these goals set for international development get "a real burst of activity and intensity in September," when world leaders are scheduled to meet at the General Assembly to discuss progress towards the goals, he said.

With the 2015 deadline for accomplishing the MDGs approaching rapidly, Mitchell and the UK expressed the need for action.

"Now with five years to go, many of them are massively off track and we need to do something to demonstrate our absolute commitment to making sure that these goals are achieved, to give hope to people living in dire poverty and deprivation around the world," Mitchell said. "I think we want to see measurable outcomes. I think we want to see, every year a proper assessment of how far we have got and what more we can do."

Mitchell called for a particular focus on MDG 5, maternal health, which he called "the mother of all of these MDGs." He stressed that the UK, including Prime Minister David Cameron are advocating strongly for the achievement of this goal, which is currently the most off-track of all MDGs.

Mitchell accentuated the importance of women to international development, a point he also stressed at his speech to ECOSOC earlier in the day.

"You can't really look at development for more than five minutes without having an understanding, in Hillary Clinton's words, that women are front and center of all issues of development," he said.

According to Mitchell, the UK also supports the new gender entity that has been proposed for the UN, and supports the utmost fiscal responsibility for the agency when it is created.

"I think its worth making the point that we want this to be an effective body which really can champion the importance of improving the lives of women throughout the world and particularly the developing world," he said. "In order to achieve that its got to have effective structures. It also needs to have structures which the donor community, the international donor community accept and respect. Otherwise the history of this is that donors will fade away from supporting the new entity and it won't achieve anything like its full potential."

Over 8.5 bln yuan donated to Yushu quake relief

BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The quake zone of Yushu in northwest China has received donations valued at over 8.5 billion yuan (about 1.25 billion U.S. dollars) as of Monday, with about 90 percent being in cash and the remaining in relief materials, said the civil affairs ministry.

The ministry said in a statement that it received 2.407 billion yuan while the Qinghai provincial government of the quake zone received nearly 2 billion yuan in donations, with the Red Cross Society of China and the China Charity Federation each raising about 2 billion yuan.

About ten percent of the total donations had been allocated to quake relief work along with reconstruction and restoration, the statement said.

Yushu was hit by a 7.1-magnitude quake on April 14, with more than 2,200 people being killed and thousands of homes flattened.

Vice Premier Hui Liangyu said on June 20 that the government would soon implement a reconstruction plan for the area, which sets a goal to accomplish major reconstruction tasks within three years.

Estudantes da USP devem pagar?

O candidato do PSB ao governo de São Paulo, Paulo Skaf, propôs que os estudantes mais ricos paguem mensalidades nas universidades estaduais --e, assim, a universidade teria mais dinheiro. É uma boa ideia?

Beira a impossibilidade uma chance de vitória de Paulo Skaf. Mesmo que eleito, não creio que ele tiraria o projeto do papel. Pelo menos num primeiro mandato.

Mas devo reconhecer que o candidato do PSB --um partido socialista-- contribui com o debate ao propor um tema tão polêmico. Por causa das pesquisas de opinião, candidatos, em geral, tendem a ser repetitivos e evitar assuntos explosivos.

Concordo com a proposta. Rico deve pagar mensalidade para ajudar aos mais pobres. Mas sei como é difícil fazer disso realidade.

Já ficaria satisfeito se todos os alunos que ganham ensino superior gratuito e tivessem alta renda fossem obrigados a dar, em contrapartida, ajuda comunitária em suas especialidades. Mas os bobocas ideológicos devem achar essa ajuda neoliberalismo.
