Brazil's Sao Paulo state water utility Sabesp (Bovespa: SBSP3, NYSE: SBS) has called a 5.85mn-real (US$3.5mn) tender to monitor its sanitation systems in the Baixada Santista coastal region near Santos city, a company spokesperson told BNamericas.

"We're looking for a firm to monitor the quality of ocean and fresh water and its surrounding sediments at sewerage system outfalls in 10 municipalities," the spokesperson said.

Seawater quality will be tested in the cities of Santos, Guaruja, Sao Vicente and Praia Grande. Freshwater monitoring will also take place in these cities, as well as areas near the coast including Bertioga, Sao Carvalho, Cubatao, Mongongua, Itanhaem, and Peruibe.

Interested firms or consortiums including a maximum of three companies must submit proposals on February 15. Clarifications can be requested until February 4. The contract term is set for 40 months, according to Sabesp tender documents.
